HPRP Statewide Implementation

Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act), HUD is allocating $1.5 billion to local and state governments for homelessness prevention. These funds are to be utilized for short- or medium-term rental assistance, housing search assistance, mediation or outreach to property owners, utility payments, case management, and rapid re-housing, among other homelessness preventative programs. These services need to be operational by summer 2009.

Bitfocus Inc., working with City of Las Vegas, City of Reno, Clark County, Washoe County, City of North Las Vegas and the State of Nevada, will be developing the necessary functionality to track services and financial assistance provided, provide technical oversight, and manage federal reporting requirements.

Enhancements made by Bitfocus will also increase usability and functionality of the HMIS system to encompass the new HPRP programs.

Bitfocus President, Robert Herdzik, currently holds a seat on the HPRP Working Group, where he has assisted with planning of the new system overhaul to aid agencies in developing a “no wrong door” model.
